This week we have been looking at the Ancient Egyptian gods. We only looked at the main ones, as there are over 2000. Your task is to create your own Egyptian god or goddess using some of the features that you have seen in class this week.

Make sure you include labels and details about your creation. We will be displaying some of these around the classroom.

Over the last few weeks, we have been studying the written methods of multiplication: how to lay them out, which order to solve them in and what not to forget. We have also been studying money. As such, this week’s homework combines the two.

A sheet of questions is stuck in the homework book to be completed for next week. More information on how to set out the written method is available here.

Living and Learning: To use calming down strategies.

To go with our current Christian Value of peace, we’ve been considering ways to calm down. Think back to our lesson last week about ways to calm down e.g counting, breathing.

Your task is to create a page all about ways to calm down. You may choose one strategy or lots of them. They can be strategies that we’ve discussed in class or something that you like to do yourself.

Recently, we have been working on using apostrophes for possession – they can be complicated, especially when plurals are involved:

  • One dog’s kennel was brand new. (One single dog owns the kennel.)
  • The other dogs’ homes were older but more homely. (More than one dogs have a home.)

Your task is to create a poster that shows the main rules for using apostrophes for possession. You might want to draw lots of pictures as examples or simply make a little sentence display. The choice is yours.

This week’s homework is a talk time homework and is due on Thursday 26 April.

This half term, our Christian value is Peace. In school, we have looked at the definitions of peace and how we can use peace to impact our own lives and our school life. With an adult or your family, discuss the following question.

If you were Prime Minister, what would you do to promote peace in your country and the world?

A new nature reserve has just opened in Wetherby and the local council needs to get more visitors to come along and visit.

Your task is to create a poster, leaflet, advert or maybe even a television commercial to promote the nature reserve and persuade people to come and visit.

The reserve has a wide range of habitats for many animals, paths for nice scenic walks and even a café.

A link to a real-life local nature reserve can be found here. It may give you some more ideas.

During our work on playscripts, we have looking a lot at verbs: what they are; how to recognise them; how they change when used in different tenses and the spelling rules we need to use to do so.

Your task is to make a poster, leaflet or other form of presentation to show off everything you know about verbs.

Remember to include definitions, examples, tenses, first and third person and anything else you think is important.

In Maths this week, we’ve been learning about symmetry and how to draw lines of symmetry on to 2D shapes.

Your child has a sheet of questions in their book to answer. They may make jottings on other pages if this helps them.
