We have started our new Science topic. We will be learning all all about different materials and their properties.
We started by looking at four materials, glass, plastic, wood and metal. We took objects from the classroom and sorted them into groups by identifying which material they were made from.
We thought about the purpose of objects and why they are made from certain materials. Some objects are made from more than one material. The children correctly said that we don’t have much glass in our classroom as it’s fragile and can be very sharp if it breaks!
Help at home: See if your child can identify what material some of their objects at home are. Can they say why it’s made from this material?
