Our School Day
The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm (totalling 32.5 hours in a typical week). Please make sure your child is at school for the start of the school day.
Morning playtimes
At 09.50am, all children from Foundation to Year 6 have a short ‘brain break’ and a quick burst of exercise when we have our daily ‘Wake Up, Shake Up!’ session. Later in the morning, children have a break from 10.45am – 11.00am.
Reception have break times which are quite flexible. Towards the end of the school year, they will join children in Key Stage 1 to have breaks at set times.
Lunch
The midday break is at different times:
- for children in Early Years, lunch starts at 11.45am and ends at 12.45pm
- for children in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), lunch starts at 11.50am and ends at 12.50pm
- for children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6), lunch starts at 12 noon and ends at 1.00pm.
During the break, lunch is served at different times. Children have plenty of time to relax and play in their lunch break, too.
Afternoon playtimes
Younger children have an afternoon playtime.
Collecting your child
At the end of the school day, parents are encouraged into the playground. This means there’s an opportunity for you to have a quick chat with your child’s teacher if you need to – we want to have good links with all parents. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg you’re delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset.
Getting to school
Travel to school in an active way! A happy and healthy start and end to the day is to walk, bike or scoot. There are other benefits, too: walking, cycling or scooting also improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Bikes or scooters can be stored safely at school. If you have to drive, please do park well away from school and walk the last part of the journey.
