Our School Day
The school day starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm. Please make sure your child is at school for the start of the school day.
At 10.00am, all children from Foundation to Year 6 have a short ‘brain break’ and a quick burst of exercise when we have our daily ‘Wake Up, Shake Up!’ session. Later in the morning, children have a break from 10.45am – 11.00am.
Reception have break times which are quite flexible. Towards the end of the school year, they will join children in Key Stage 1 to have breaks at set times.
Lunch starts at 12 noon and ends at 1.00pm. During this time, lunch is served at different times:
- for children in Early Years, lunch starts at 11.45am and ends at 12.45pm
- for children in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), lunch starts at 11.50am and ends at 12.50pm
- for children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6), lunch starts at 12 noon and ends at 1.00pm.
Children have plenty of time to relax and play in their lunch break, too.
Younger children have an afternoon playtime.
Collecting your child
At the end of the school day, parents are encouraged into the playground. This means there’s an opportunity for you to have a quick chat with your child’s teacher if you need to – we want to have good links with all parents. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg you’re delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know. This avoids any confusion or upset.
Getting to school
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park wisely.
