At St James’ CE Primary, our vision is to be a happy and healthy place to achieve and believe. We want every child to feel happy and healthy and be able to achieve. We’re committed to ensuring each child feels valued, supported and able to succeed, regardless of their individual needs, abilities or background.
Inclusion means creating a school where all pupils can access learning, develop positive relationships, participate fully in school life and achieve their potential.
In terms of inclusion, Ofsted considers four broad groups:
- socioeconomically disadvantaged pupils (those eligible for the pupil premium)
- pupils with SEND (this means pupils receiving Special Educational Needs support, and those with an Education, Health and Care plan)
- pupils who are known (or previously known) to children’s social care
- pupils who may face other barriers to their learning and/or wellbeing, which may include pupils who share a protected characteristic
We aim to identify and address barriers early, ensuring that the right support is available when it is needed.
Our Inclusion Strategy is pending. It’s guided by the Department for Education’s vision for a more inclusive mainstream education system and focuses on removing barriers to learning, participation and achievement.
