A little quiz…

Posted on Tuesday 14 April 2020 by Mr Roundtree

Hi children,

We hope you’ve had a lovely Easter break. Isn’t the sunshine just fab?

Maddie enjoyed her first Easter egg hunt and has definitely got her love of chocolate from me.

Whilst you’re enjoying your break, why not have a go at this little quiz? Can you work out the titles of the 20 famous children’s books? I’ll post the answers tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Happy Easter!

Posted on Saturday 11 April 2020 by Mr Roundtree

So, how are the Easter holidays going? How are you getting on with the Easter challenge activities? What were you up to last week? What will you be doing this week? Helping with the cooking? Practising a sport? Completing a jigsaw ? I’m trying to do the  Joe Wicks workouts every day. Mrs Rowley is getting better at piano. Send us some pictures of all the fun things that you are doing – we love seeing what you’re up to! Here are some we’ve already received.

Hi children

How are you finding the Easter holidays? Have you completed any of the Easter home learning? The den building looks fab – I can’t wait till Maddie is older and we can build lots of dens!

We’ve spent lots of time in the garden playing in her sandpit, reading books, colouring in our picnic blanket and even playing in her water tray in the lovely sunshine!

We have loved receiving your emails about all the things you are doing at home – both learning and fun things! Have a look at Evie making pizzas and Ellie kickboxing with her dad. Please do keep sending us emails – its fab to see what you’ve been up to and you might even appear here on the website!

We hope you have a lovely Easter weekend.

Have you learnt something n

Happy Friday – you’ve made it to the end of another week of home learning.

How have you found it? What have you found the hardest and which has been your favourite part?

We’ve loved receiving emails from your grownups and seeing all the things you’ve been doing.

Before we finished a few weeks ago, Miss Beatson gave the staff the challenge to learn something new. A long time ago, I started to learn the piano but I definitely haven’t practised in a long, long time!

So my challenge to myself is to learn to play the piano better – this was day one of me practising and this is day two – hopefully getting better! Now, it didn’t just take two videos to improve… there were lots of videos and lots of practise in between…

Don’t forget to email us with the things you have been doing and learning – we love receiving them.

Roman Mosaics

Posted on Thursday 02 April 2020 by Mr Roundtree

Hi children,

We looked at making our own Roman mosaics, but sadly didn’t get the opportunity to do so in school. So Mrs Cairnes and her son decided to make some of their own at home. Has anyone else had a go at creating a mosaic?

Hi children,

How did you get on with your dreamgiver task? Don’t forget to share any pictures with us all. Here’s Leah hard at work creating her dreamgiver!

Keeping active at home

Posted on Monday 30 March 2020 by Mr Roundtree

Hi children,

We hope that you’ve had a good start to the week despite the change in weather.

One of the things we are good at doing when we are in school is keeping active. How are you finding it now that you’re at home?

I’ve been spending lots of time in the garden practising Maddie’s new walking skill.

Mr Mills has been busy practising his skipping routine – have a look at him in action here. Can you copy him or make your own routine up? If so, ask a grown-up to video it or take some videos to send to us. Remember to send it to both Mrs Welsby (kerensawelsby@spherefederation.org) and to Mrs Rowley (beckyrowley@spherefederation.org).

Evie and Ralph have been busy getting some fresh air in the garden making worm houses and going for walks.

Send us some pictures of all the active things you have been doing at home. We can’t wait to see them!

Keep safe,

Mrs Rowley

World Book Day 2020

Posted on Friday 06 March 2020 by Miss Beatson

This week, we’ve been celebrating World Book Day by sharing stories for ten minutes each day. Yesterday, lots of children brought in their favourite book to share with the class. Foundation had a great time dressing up as a favourite book character, whilst KS1 and KS2 visited Scholes Primary School to watch a Hobgoblin performance of Wind in the Willows.

Super skippers!

Posted on Wednesday 04 March 2020 by Mr Roundtree

What an amazing afternoon year 3 and 4 had today!

This afternoon, year 3 and 4 visited Temple Learning Academy to participate in a skipping competition against 4 other schools. The children behaved impeccably and made us very proud.

The children participated in 15 different events and we came away with 10 different certificates, including a few golds! We learnt a skip dance to “Let’s get ready to rumble” where we came 2nd! Certificates will be handed out during our achievement assembly on Friday.

Here are a few photos of us competing:
