I can write my full name.
As an adult and a child, we are often required to write our full name. This week’s homework is to practise writing our full names. Make sure you form your letters correctly. Year 2 – try to join your handwriting.
Practice that feels like play – does this sound beneficial for your child? Have a look at IXL. It’s an online tool where you can access different activities to help your child practise basic skills.
It’s split into year groups, specifically looking at English and Maths, then each subject is broken down into sections. You can get a flavour of the activities by hovering over the title and can have a go at some of them – it looks great fun and very child friendly. The questions are all interactive and there are detailed explanations for new concepts.
There is a small monthly fee if you wish to sign up. Take a look – it might be something you want to explore.
This week’s homework is creative.
I can explain what an explorer is.
You can represent this in words, pictures, comic book strips or collage as discussed in class.

Here are some ideas that we came up with as a class when we talked about the homework:
Remember, this is an important time to chat without any distractions: turn the television off, sit together and share ideas.
In year 1 and 2, there will be separate spellings for the different year groups. Both will begin by building and implementing their phonics knowledge before moving onto the High Frequency Words and Common Exception Words.
