Penny trail

As part of Me and My Money themed week, we created a penny trail in our playground. Thank you to everyone who brought in some spare pennies to make the trail extremely long. We raised £45 just from one pence coins! The money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.

PTA disco

On Friday 17 November, we have our PTA disco at St James’ Church Hall. Tickets are being sold every day this week. You’ll find a member of the PTA selling tickets in the playground if you would like to purchase some.

Bake Sale

Thank you to everyone who baked or donated cakes for our Autumn book and bake sale last week. We raised £267.90!

Thank you to all the parents/carers who helped and the PTA for organising the event.

Extreme reading

Thank you to everyone who sent photographs in showing some extreme reading during the Summer holidays. Some of the pictures showed some funny and peculiar places to read which was the whole point of the competition! They certainly made us all smile when we showed the children the pictures and announced the winners in assembly last week. Well done to Ethan, Emily, Hattie and Jacob for taking a reading prize home.

Check out a few of the fabulous entries.

A new vicar

I’m pleased to inform you that a new vicar has been appointed at St James’ Church. Reverend Matthew Peat, currently serving as Vicar of Whitkirk in the Leeds Episcopal Area, has been appointed as the Incumbent of Wetherby with Linton in the Ripon Episcopal Area.He will be joining us later on in the year and we’re looking forward to meeting him and welcoming him into the school community.

Reception drop-in session

Thank you to all the parents/carers who visited our Reception classroom today to look at all the wonderful learning that the children have been doing this year. We had some lovely feedback from our visitors:

“….loves coming to school and that’s all due to the wonderfully nurturing, fun and enthusiastic staff at St James’.”

“The boys have loved this year and really enjoyed coming into school everyday. They have had so much support and have done so well.”

“We have really enjoyed all the drop ins which have given us an insight into Reception life and their learning techniques.”

“The teaching has been wonderful and …… has come on leaps and bounds. We’re all so pleased with her progress. She is very happy.”

We will continue to invite parents and carers into school next year to share the fabulous learning we do at St James’!

Residential day one and two

We’ve had a fantastic few days at Robinwood. The children are having a great time and embracing all the activities. We have done climbing, archery, zip-wire, raft building, canoeing, giant swing and much more. Before we head home tomorrow, we will be visiting the much anticipated piranha pool, crate challenge and knight’s quest.

We hope to arrive back to school at 4pm.
