Phonics
1. Practise recognising and saying all the sounds.
Phase 2 – Phonics Bloom
2. Practise reading all of the phase 2 tricky words. You could also have a go at spelling them using the look, cover and write method. Remember to use the letter names when writing them!
3. Words to Read:
Use your ‘phoneme fingers’ or point to the sound buttons to help. How many sounds are in these words?
4. Words to write:

Ask an adult to read out the words. Use your phoneme frames in your home learning pack. Remember to write one phoneme in each box.

Activity
Write out the numbers 0-20 on some paper or card, cut them up and then ask an adult to mix the numbers up – don’t peek! Then, see how quickly you can put them into the correct order. You could ask someone to time you and see if you are faster the second time.
Topic
Go on a winter walk with a grown-up and look around to see the things that have changed since the summer.

Phonics
Listening Walk
Go on a Listening Walk with an adult around your house and in your garden. Practise listening carefully to all the different sounds you hear. Talk about what you heard. Did you recognise all the sounds? Were they loud or quiet? Were they long or short sounds?
Draw pictures of the things you heard on a piece of paper.
Maths
Build a tower using building bricks, blocks, cubes or anything you have at home.
How tall is your tower?
Can you count all of the bricks?
Can you build a smaller tower?
Topic
We are currently in the season winter. This morning, there might be frost on the floor. Go outside into your garden to explore the frost.

Parents: Please read the sounds to your child. They can then write them on a piece of paper.
Parents: Your child should have this sound mat in the home learning pack which was sent out before Christmas.

Was your child able to blend the words? Encourage your child to use their ‘phoneme fingers’ to help them when reading words.

Final week
We’ve had a very busy, festive week in school: pantomime (virtual), Christmas lunch, parties, Christingle and crafts. Well done to everybody for working so hard this term- have a wonderful Christmas!

Preparing for our Christingle service.
The children were very sensible when holding their Christingles – we were very proud of them all.
Talk to your child about the Christingle service and see if they can remember the meaning.
Pantomime time
What a busy day we have had!
“Oh, no, you haven’t!”
“Oh, yes, we have!”
This morning, in between other school work, we have been decorating our clay jar decorations, and in the afternoon we watched the pantomime about Rapunzel.
Class 3/4 want to say a BIG thank you to the PTA for enabling us to watch the panto this afternoon. Here are some of the things that we said about the show:
Daisy: Thank you so much for letting us watch the pantomime. My favourite character was the dragon and Rapunzel.
Olivia: I enjoyed it because it was super funny.
Jack: It was extremely exciting. I loved the dragon!
Ellie: I enjoyed the bit of the video when the dragon said, “My name is Geoff.”
Mia: I think it is funny when the woman drank the baby potion.
Eliza: The best bit was when the prince and Rapunzel got married.
Louie: I enjoyed it when they all sang.
Leah: Thank you for buying this amazing play – it was brilliant!
Edward: Thanks for the play and thanks for everything. It was super funny.

Christmas Dinner
Today we have had a busy day. In the morning we had a zoom visit from Santa. It was lovely to chat with him and ask questions. Thank you, Santa! Then we enjoyed Christmas Lunch together, pulling crackers and sharing jokes.
