This week’s spelling words are from our current spelling unit – Why do I swap the y for an i when I add the suffix -es?
Swap the y for an i before adding -es.
When the word ends in the digraphs ay, oy, ey, we just add -s.

This week’s spelling words are from our spelling learning this week – The ‘W Special’
The /w/ sound affects how the graphemes a, ar and or are said.
Note that qu is made up of /k/ and /w/, so also affects the graphemes a, ar and or.We double the final consonant to protect a short vowel sound when adding -ing.
